Back Then

I’ve kept all of the little things

That once knew of your touch,

The razor that you shaved with,

And even your toothbrush.

They are the things that make me feel

Still very close to you,

And make me think of bygone days,

And things we used to do.

The picture of you that I keep

On a stand beside the bed,

Even the pillow you once used,

At night to rest your head.

But of all the things that I have kept,

And those I like the best,

Are memories I still have of you,

And the smile that you possessed.

And though the years go speeding by,

My memories do not dim,

Of the years when we were close.. as one,

Even though that was ‘back then.’
