My Basenji

I have a little Basenji,
His coat is red and white,
He's very good during the day,
But very bad at night.

He slips beneath the covers,
To lay right next to me,
Then suddenly he discovers,
He has a doggone flea.

He wiggles and he scratches,
Until I cannot rest,
I kick him out, unto the floor,
Then he is at his best.

Just long enough to make me think,
The flea has come and gone,
So I let him back into my bed,
But I was really wrong.

The fleas still there, lost in his hair,
And that is a simple fact,
Until it jumps, from him to me,
And now I'm in the act!
