 Jewels
Be grateful for each
sunrise,
That starts each brand new day,
Be happy for
the chance to make,
A brand new friend
today.
For new friends are like rare
jewels,
That you collect and keep,
New friends can help
you with the load,
That sometimes makes you
weep.
Only you control the number
Of jewels
that you collect,
Although you do not flaunt them,
Or
wear them ‘round your neck.
Each friend you make
and call your own,
Adds more to your collection,
For you
to enjoy and think about,
And is only a
reflection…
Of kind words and a friendly
smile,
That you have given them,
The rarest jewel that
you can find,
Is to make another friend.
