I have days that are
diamonds,
A few like rarest
pearl...
While most are much more
common,
Painful from cramps that
curl.
The diet that they have me
on,
Chock full
of healthy things...
Is designed for my well
being,
For all my growing
pains.
Consolation comes from
knowing,
That I am not
unique...
For others have
now joined me,
Even as we speak.
We have so much in
common,
Find that it's rewarding
too...
As we comfort one
another,
Talk of good times we once
knew.
We mention all the
aches we have,
Converse about
our pain...
Reminisce about long years
ago,
Tell how we're not the
same.
We can name all of
the meds we take,
Talk about PT we're
doing...
Swap recipes for foods we've
found
That require little
chewing.
Our mind that once worked
flawlessly,
As sharp as any
tack...
Has laid down on the job it
does,
Won't cut us any
slack.
Getting old is not for
sissies,
Yet there's little we can
do...
We now are held
together,
With staples, wire, and
glue.
